Justin Duerr

Justin Duerr is a Philadelphia based artist and researcher. His work can be seen in the 2011 documentary film Resurrect Dead: the Mystery of the Toynbee Tiles which won the award for best director at that year’s Sundance Film Festival. In 2018 Duerr‘s research resulted in a monograph of hitherto forgotten artist Herbert Crowley, titled The Temple of Silence. The book was well reviewed and has gone on to be issued in a French translation. The intensive research centering on Crowley led to further investigation and exploration of his circles, and Duerr is currently at work on a two-volume biography and art book focused on Crowley’s friend Mary Mowbray-Clarke, inspired by the discovery of a previously unknown cache of her personal papers and correspondence. Justin’s artwork has been exhibited in galleries and museums across the US, and he is a musician who plays in several local bands.
