Benjamin Breen is a Ph.D. candidate in early modern history at the University of Texas at Austin and the editor-in-chief of The Appendix, a journal of narrative and experimental history. His writings have appeared in Aeon, The Atlantic, The Paris Review Daily, History Compass, and The Journal of Early Modern History. He is currently writing book on the origins of the global drug trade and is on Twitter.
