Roger Lawrence Gibson

Graduated with BSc Honours (Cum Laude) from University of Natal, Durban, in 1984 before completing a PhD at the University of Cambridge on the tectonic and metamorphic history of the Eastern Pyrenees in France. Joined Wits University in 1990. Served two 5-year terms as Head of the School of Geosciences at Wits (2009-2019). Has published more than 100 scientific peer-reviewed articles of which approximately half are related to impact cratering. Co-author of a popular book on the Vredefort impact (W.U. Reimold & R.L. Gibson (2009): Meteorite Impact! The Danger from Space and South Africa’s Mega-Impact, the Vredefort Structure. Springer, 337p.)
